Remove annotations with explicit link and whole-form options
About this tool
Create a PDF copy with supported annotation entries removed. Link and Widget entries are kept by default. Selecting widget removal also deletes the entire AcroForm, including fields without visible widgets; the result explicitly reports this. Existing metadata and retained form appearances are preserved without generating new appearances. Malformed annotation types, cyclic forms, XFA and signature-bearing PDFs, including empty signature fields, are rejected before rewriting. A zero-removal result is labeled no change. The operation removes references, not a verified forensic purge: orphan objects, attachments or other document references may retain data. Limits: 20 MiB, 200 pages, bounded annotation/form structures and 80 MiB output.

Remove a note while keeping a form field
Goal: Remove annotations with explicit link and whole-form options
- Load the example with a text field and one Text annotation.
- Leave the link and whole-form options unchecked, then remove annotations.
- Download PDF and confirm one annotation removed while contact.name remains editable.
Result: The note reference is removed and the AcroForm is retained.

Will links and forms be removed automatically?
Cause: No. Links and widgets stay by default. The widget option explicitly removes widgets and the entire AcroForm.
Fix: Keep both options unchecked to retain links and widgets. Select whole-form removal only when all AcroForm data should be removed.
Can this preserve a digital signature?
Cause: No. Rewriting can invalidate signatures, so signature-bearing PDFs and even empty signature fields are rejected.
Fix: Work from an unsigned copy and verify the final document separately; this tool deliberately rejects all signature fields.
