Embed visible PDF page content on A4, Letter, Legal or custom sheets, preserving text and vectors where present. Fit keeps the complete visible page, Fill clips content outside the new sheet, and No upscale centers small pages at their original physical size while shrinking oversized ones. CropBox origins, rotation and UserUnit are included in placement. Supported form appearances are flattened first; other annotations are rejected. Bookmarks, links, attachments and interactive structure are not retained, so keep the original and review the new sheets.
Scenario Recipes
Put a small scan on a larger sheet
Goal: Preserve physical content size while changing the surrounding paper.
- Inspect the first displayed page size and choose the target paper and orientation.
- Choose No upscale with an appropriate margin; use Fit only if enlargement is desired.
- Download and measure the result, checking rotated pages and any blank pages.
Result: A new sheet layout with an explicit scaling choice.
Failure Clinic (Common Pitfalls)
Page edges disappear
Cause: Fill intentionally clips overflow.
Fix: Switch to Fit when every visible source edge must remain.
A PDF with comments is rejected
Cause: Comment appearances cannot be guaranteed during vector page rebuilding.
Fix: Prepare a suitable copy with a PDF editor and retain the annotated original.

How do Fit and Fill differ?
Fit leaves blank space to keep all visible content. Fill covers the whole sheet and clips overflow; its margin is ignored.
What does No upscale preserve?
Smaller pages keep their original physical content size, including UserUnit. Oversized pages are still reduced to fit.
Does changing units repeatedly alter the size?
No. Dimensions are stored in points; changing between millimeters, inches and points changes their displayed units.
Are rotated and cropped pages supported?
Yes. Placement uses the visible intersection of page boxes and the displayed rotation. Unsupported or non-overlapping geometry is rejected.
What happens to forms and links?
Supported form appearances become ordinary page content. Other annotations are rejected, and bookmarks, attachments and interactive structure are not carried into the new sheets.
What files are unsupported?
Encrypted PDFs, XFA and digital signature fields, including empty signature fields, are rejected. Inputs are limited to 200 MiB and 1,000 pages, with an 500 MiB output limit.
Does processing upload the document?
PDF processing runs locally in your browser. Generate a separate result and click Download; keep and inspect the original and output before sharing.
