Can the compressor guarantee an exact file size?

No. Encoders and image content make exact byte sizes impractical. The tool gets as close as possible and clearly reports when the target cannot be reached without crossing the minimum quality or resize limits.

Which format is usually smallest?

WebP is often a good general-purpose choice. JPEG works well for photos, while PNG is best when lossless detail or transparency matters.

Will transparent backgrounds stay transparent?

PNG, WebP, and AVIF can preserve transparency when the browser encoder supports it. JPEG cannot, so transparent pixels are rendered on white.

Does compression upload my images?

Why is a PNG still larger than the target?

PNG is lossless and some images do not compress much. The tool may reduce dimensions, but it will not silently apply lossy JPEG conversion unless you choose another output format.
